Review; Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

Synopsis;

“His eyes sliced into me and the corners of his mouth tilted up. My heart fumbled a beat and, in that pause, a feeling of gloomy darkness seemed to slide like a shadow over me. It vanished in an instant, but I was still staring at him. His smile wasn’t friendly. It was a smile that spelled trouble. With a promise.”

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora can’t decide whether to fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is in the middle of a centuries-old battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and the wrong choice will cost her life.

Review; This is a remarkable debut by an author with incredible imagination. Hush, Hush is one of those books you can read and reread over and over again and appreciate the creativity, passion and integrity of a little more every time. I read this book 4 times within the first month of owning a copy!

Nora is a wonderful heroine with real backbone. Unlike some, she resists her attraction (and aversion) to Patch in order to weigh up the benefits and negatives of a prospective relationship with him. Being positioned with her throughout the novel was not just bearable, it was fun. Often, it is so much easier to dislike the female lead than it is the male, but in this case, you couldn't help but adore Nora.

And, of course, what made Nora an even more exciting character was the explosive effects when teamed with Patch. Patch was amazing - witty, good looking (duh) and with a dangerous vibe. I could tell the exact moment he'd changed his mind about Nora and realised there was more to his feelings than he'd care to admit. To accomplish that is truly amazing writing.

Amongst all this are the paranormal elements and the mystery of Patch's real identity. Not to mention, the fears that he may be stalking Nora...or is comeone else lurking in the shadows?

If you love a thrilling read with addictive romance, Hush, Hush will take your breath away. A huge five horse rating from me, as my favourite book of all time! Not to mention the amazing cover art!

Cheers!
Emma :)

YES, Hush, Hush is brilliant! (",)

I know, I also read a lot of the Amazon reviews :( ... so many people seem to have this huge problem with the fact that Nora is attracted to Patch, because he has no redeemable qualities ... NO! ... it's NOT TRUE, lol :S AAARRRGGGHHHH! I don't know what book they were reading. To me, like you said, you could even tell when Patch changed his mind about Nora ... he is sensitive and he does protect Nora, and he makes the ultimate sacrifice for her in the end, that's how much he cares ... and he's only ever nice to her, even opening her car door in front of her mom, when he could just as easily Not Care what impression he makes ... and he's SUCH a sexy flirt :D

I don't get all the comparisons to Twilight, either ... yes, there's some similarities, bbbut that's what happens in this genre ... and we keep reading it, because we love the way authors can take the same things and create their OWN amazing story! Twilight better than Hush, Hush? UGH. Never. LoL. Breaking Dawn, especially, is disgusting rubbish. I highly doubt Becca Fitzpatrick is going to have Nora dying to pop out a creepy demon baby at any point. No Comparison.

Coopypie!!

At long last I have managed to remember my password for my blogger account! Hallelujah! Anyway, I am quite a fan of this blog of yours and although you have told me countless times to read this wondrous novel, I am yet to find time! I actually just finished of "The Piper's Son" by Melina Marchetta which was BRILLIANT! I loved it, it's up there in my top 15 I am estimating. I think it's considered YA too!! :D
I don't really have much more to say at the moment, although I shall take advantage of being signed in and comment some of your other posts!
Ok ciao!!
Elise

PS: I am going to Thailand with ISV (international student volunteers) in December!!!!! :D

@ Bella - thanks so much for the comment!! :D I totally agree, the Amazon reviews were totally bogus and really upsetting :( I'm so glad you're on the same page! Have you seen the Crescendo cover? I'm totally flipping out with worry...I hope she's not letting go of that feather and symbolising "letting go" of Patch...eeeekk!
I am definitely with you on Breaking Dawn...ew! You summed that up perfectly, thanks so much for the big LOL's :D haha.

@ Elise - yes, go read it. I don't know if it's your style..it's romancy, but you might like the darkness in it. Even if it's not your usual intellectual read (LOL) the cover is awesome to appreciate!! Oh awesome about the trip to Thailand! I should ring you soon but I'm so tired tonight (just got back from Goulburn) :D LOL

@ Becky - yes, you're awesome for saying so :D
